David Dickerson, State Government Relations Director, manages NMMA’‘s team of state contract lobbyists on issues ranging from tax policy to boating infrastructure funding to dealer/manufacturer contract law.

A Florida native, David grew up boating on Tampa Bay. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism. His career includes a five-year stint as a bureau chief for the Florida Today newspaper in Melbourne, where he reported on state and local politics. He left Florida for Washington, DC in 1985 to be press secretary to Congressman (now U.S. Senator) Bill Nelson. In 1986 he became the media liaison for the Space Science Subcommittee, which had oversight over NASA. He handled international press coverage of the subcommittee and Mr. Nelson during and after the Challenger space shuttle accident. In his spare time, David enjoys boating and woodworking.
